TEHRAN (Mehr News Agency) -- The Soviet filmmaker Andrey Tarkovsky’s “Zerkola” (“The Mirror,” 1974) was screened on Wednesday at Isfahan Art Bureau.

The Iranian critic Babak Ahmadi gave comments on the movie for those moviegoers present in the session.

“The film depicts the social problems of Tarkovsky’s childhood,” said Ahmadi.

“He made his people focus their attention on their surrounding social problems in his “Zerkola” and “Nostalgia,” he added.

Tarkovsky made “Nostalgia” in 1983. Referring to Iranian filmgoers, he said, “The Iranians understand Tarkovsky’s cinema very well because the filmmaker has produced his films in difficult situations palpable to Iranian directors.”

Tarkovsky (1932-1986) has directed “Ivan’s Childhood” (1962), “Andrey Rublyov” (1966), “Solaris” (1972), “Stalker” (1979), and “The Sacrifice” (1986) in his filmmaking career.
